Ed Reed expected to start the season on the PUP list , missing the Baltimore's first six games of the season.

He confirmed that news to a group of reporters at his football camp in Maryland, and also added some pretty harsh words regarding his relationship with the Ravens, via Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post .

"I haven't had the support from the other side as you think has been there," Reed said. "If I don't say it now, it won't ever get said. It's like a marriage. There are going to be disagreements.

"You got to work with that person. When it starts to get too much, you got to pull back: 'Is it worth it? or should I take a pay cut and be on another team?"

Reed was referring specifically to his request last year for a new contract (he currently has three years remaining with base salaries between $6 and $7.2 million for each of those years), a request he claims has not been renewed this year. (Although a recent radio appearance -- in which Reed said "it needs to be taken care of" -- certainly seems to refute that.)

"The word I got was, 'We're comfortable with where we're at,'" Reed said. "Yes, you would be comfortable with the plays that I'm making on the field and paying me what you're paying me. ... There are six, seven players in front of me at my position [in terms of money] that I honestly wouldn't let hold my jock, and I don't even wear one.'"

Reed's semi-rant continued with him lobbing out the possibility that he might not return for the entire season before answering his own hypothetical question about wanting to retire in Baltimore: "Does it always happen? No."

The former Defensive Player of the Year's words, coupled with the little brewhaha boiling between Marc Bulger , Joe Flacco and Troy Smith suddenly paints a portrait of an organization that, while a strong candidate to make a Super Bowl run, that might be in a bit of disarray.

Then again, considering Reed is almost 32 and these quotes are amidst a discussion of retirement, maybe Baltimore knows exactly what they're doing.

Ravenmaniac:  ... I wear my purple proud.

Uh, Congrats, with the purple.  I mean, it does match well with... uh... pink... if it's the right shade.  I guess.

Sorry, I wouldn't normally point out such silly things as colors but you did bring it up.  We take pride in Super Bowl trophies and you are proud of... purple.  Really.

Well, good for you, ma'am.

Ravenmaniac:  Yep Tribe Fan you're absolutely right. We wish we had it together like the (Steelers).

That's good, Ravenmaniac!  You were starting to make progress but lost it towards the end.
Keep working on it!

Hint Matt..it's obvious you don't actually pick up a newspaper on ocassion do ya. When did RAY RAY ever get convicted for murder. If I had no Super Bowl trophies I would talk smack. Why...because I can.

Trasdition..let's talk about tradition. A once proud franchise is now nothing more that a haven for perenial wanna be convicts waiting for their chance to be in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons....AKA... the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Reed and Ray are old..so what. Ward is old. The D is fine....how about your offense, seem only last year the town was calling for your O co-ordinators head. Remember that....of course not. that was overshadowed by you missing the playoffs for the 2nd time after winning the Super Bowl. So the Steelers are nothing more to me than a 3rd place team right now and could possibly head even further down since they can't seem to control the idiocracy in the off season.

By the way..they are not my Colts or my Browns but they are my Ravens and I wear my purple proud. How's the yellow fitting you.

Wow, great post. Um, every team did steriods in the 70s. Every team. The Steelers just also won SBs. Sorry your Colts and Browns did not. Not sure what your gripe with the Rooney's is, but at least the Rooney's didn't screw over a city. I know you don't care that Modell left Cleveland, afterall, your original team left in the middle of the night. Great tradition there.

"This decades Steelers"??? How many players on the Steelers roster have murdered people? Answer: ZERO. How many on the Purple Browns have murdered people: Answer TWO (Ray Ray and Donte).

One SB trophy and you think you can talk smack. Wow. The Ravens may win the division this year but they won't win it all. And you can thank that to Ben's stupidity and Santonio's love of the pipe. Reed is old, Ray Ray is old, Flacco is all hype. The D no longer has a genius running it. How did it feel to get crushed in the AFC Champ game 2 years straight?

Yep Tribe Fan you're absolutely right. We wish we had it together like the Squeelers. More like a disfunctional family. A pervert for a quarterback, a drunk for a kicker and just an idiot for a tight end. Not to mention a dope head former wide out who was sent packing to give everyone the impression that like they were doing something about their problems.

Go back to Panther piss land troll. I heard they were thinking about bringing Rae Carruth of of retirement...I mean prison.

Well look who came out of hibernation to post...The old black and Gold Poser asnd his anti Ray Lewis tyrade. I love Steeler fans. They stand around like a bunch of little baby bird waiting for mamma bird to stick a dead worm down their throat.

Don't you understand what is happening. This is nothing more than a communication breakdown and this is Reed's only outlet to fix what he feels is broken. All is well and it will be taken care of very soon. Harbaught was on a radio show thi9s morning and has been in communication with Reed. He also said everything is getting blown out of proportion by the media. Gee imagine that.

It's not like our quarterback raped someone....twice....allegedly, or had a motorcycle accident without a helmet or even a driver's license or our franchise kicker who cant tackle beat the hell out of a paper towel dispenser or another one of our players pissed in public and beat up a cop. Hell....we also did not release a wide reciever dope head.

Black and Gold Poser, you only feel that way about ray Lewis because he levelled Mendenhall and Bettis was too much of puss to play vs him.

In that case the players don't have to say that..the team will just waive or cut them period....they do it to players who are making plays...
