After another subpar performance in what has been a career of subpar performances, people are questioning whether Arizona QB Matt Leinart’s starting job is in jeopardy. As Andy pointed out last night, Leinart was 4 for 6 for 28 yards against the Titans on Monday, and he led his team to a trio of three-and-out possessions.

Here’s Leinart’s response, as recorded by the Arizona Republic , and it’s part obvious and part … sorta … ridiculous.

"You want to move the ball better, obviously," Leinart said. "It falls on the quarterback. … You guys critique every play and think I'm not very good because we don't move the ball. I understand it falls on the quarterback. The game plan is small. I'm not worried about it. I know I need to play better."

I like that he thinks people think he’s not very good because he’s having a tough preseason. No, people think he’s not very good because he allowed Kurt Warner – true, possibly a future Hall of Famer, but he was an old future Hall of Famer in Arizona – to take his job in the 2008 preseason and because he’s completed 57 percent of his passes for 14 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in his career.

And because if Warner wanted to play another season instead of retiring, Leinart, once again, would be relegated to the bench.

That being said, I don’t know how the Cardinals organization could give the ball to backup Derek Anderson, who was absolutely horrendous last year for a bad Cleveland Browns squad.

Listen, I know Anderson was playing in a system that didn’t highlight his strengths – mainly his big arm – but if Leinart can’t keep the starting job that was thought to be his, I’d say there’s no hope Leinart will ever be a starting quarterback in this league.

"I think we had opportunities from all of our quarterbacks to make plays tonight," Whisenhunt said after the game, intimating that his quarterbacks didn’t actually make those plays. "I'm not panicked about it. It's a process you have to go through."

Leinart's starting job is in jeopardy

coming from a butt packer. Your comments dont surprise me. Are you ready for 2 more losses this year? Talk about backbone chump...that was taken away from your pres and coach last year when the vikings and Favre kicked you azz. Losers....Rodgers is a good QB. Had a dumbshit in my fantasy take him with the 10 th pick overall. That is almost as funny as packer fans thinking they will win the division. Not happening. Championship....with/without Favre.

Leinart's starting job is in jeopardy

Arizona needs to face the fact that Leinart simply isn't that good.  Anderson was a Pro Bowler in 2007 so at least he has shown he can do the job.  Leinart has been mediocre his entire career which is why he lost his starting job to Warner in the first place.

Leinart's starting job is in jeopardy

He was a college QB and all hype coming out of USC. Guess he cant hack it in the pros, and that doesnt mean Kurt Warner was GREAT, just means he was smart and could manage a football team, Leinart doesnt have Reggie Bush pushing him in the end-zone anymore, but on the other hand he does have Fitzgerald, and with that guy you take a 3 step drop, close your eyes and CHUNK it, 8 out of 10 hes touching, catching, or blocking the CB/safetys from taking the ball. It's not rocket science, but this just proves it does take a little bit of mind control.

Look what V.Young has done with the Titans, or should I say look what Chris Johnson has done for V.Y, LOL

What are we basing our opinion on.  Am I to understand that Linehart is holding back this "high powered" offense.  No Bouldin, no Fitzgerald, no Doucet and this offense is high powered?  Linehart was missing 3 of the 4 starting WRs from last year; and he is handing off to Tim Hightower most of the time.  Who would look good doing that.  Linhart was 4 for 6 with no protection, with one of the incompletes to a rookie who couldn't understand his coverage.  The question should be why is Hightower starting over Beanie?  A more explosive back would take pressure off the QB no matter who he is.  But that's Wisenhunt.  Being a Steeler fan, I know Wiz doesn't understand the ground game.  Cowher forced him to run the ball.  Again, I think the issue is with the staff more that Mattie or Anderson.

Bush is at least an asset to the Saints, who did win it all.  He's got that goin' for him, which is nice.

Leinart's starting job is in jeopardy

Count me in the minority of guys who think Leinart can be a solid QB. He has absolutely sucked so far, but I don't think he realizes that Kurt Warner is not there anymore and he needs to step up in his preparation among other things. Give the guy some time, but if he sucks it up after a few regular season games, give Anderson a start or two, and if he does not look good, get John Skelton some playing time.

I don't know if Bush is a bust. While he certainly hasn't lived up to expectations, he has made big plays and contributed on a championship run. There is still time for him to develop some between the tackles skills i have seen more out of him than Lienart, who is weak mentally and has marginal arm strength.

Yes. I definately agree with that. Avoiding injury in my opinion is for guys who you need for later on in the season and you want to protect them. In Leinarts case he needs to play half of these games. I'm a die hard Cards fan born and raised here and I have no faith in Matt. He's too soft to play on this team or this league for that matter when you will get hit and get hit hard. Giving Anderson a shot to use his cannon and go wild with the talent we have at receivers could rejuvinate him and get back to that pro bowl year he had. Thats a long shot though, I'm sure I;ll have to wait for a better QB getting drafted or trade some picks for a QB sometime soon.
