We finally have a quarterback controversy: the Cardinals are planning on starting Derek Anderson ahead of Matt Leinart against the Bears this week.

"I don't think we performed the way we want to perform on offense this preseason and we're going to look at a number of different players in different spots," Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said, according to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.

This is as pure as a quarterback controversy gets: Anderson will play the first quarter, then Leinart will come in for the second (and some of the third) quarter. Thus, just like this past Monday, both players will get time with the first unit.

Anderson has not been especially impressive this preseason, but Leinart has been especially unimpressive. In short, this is almost the worst case scenario that the Cardinals have been fearing.

UPDATE: There are rumors starting to pick up that Leinart could be done in Arizona. Obviously, this is just speculation at this point, but the benching is a very gloomy sign for him.

Da 1 I don't think you know what your talking about. So far he's done everything that he's been asked to and he has been accurate in preseason. If you look at some stats you would see over the preseason he's thrown 19/23 that's 83% my friend. Also if your going to compare QB atleast get the name right it's Derek not Derrick Anderson. Whisenhunt is not going to start a guy who has only played a few months for this team, and doesn't understand the playbook. The only reason he started against the Chicago Bears is to motivate Matt Leinart to play better. Leinart knows this is his last chance to prove himself, and believe me his hot tub days are over. He knows if he scurews up this time he'll be out with no job, and labled a bust.

The nerve of this guy, can you beleive this. Matt Leinart says I quote " I am  dissappointed I've  has done everything asked of me". Please the words coming from an overated qb who has yet to prove himself as top notch qb in the NFL. If any one should disappointed it should be the fans and the Cardinals organization. Leinart does not have what it takes to replace Kurt Warner, the Cardinale are better off starting Derrick Anderson at qb. Leinart is such an in-accurated passer he failed to even pick-up one first down last week. Then he has the nerves to blame the other teams defense for blitzing on every play. Hello... this is the NFL. If he can't do it in pre-season do you think he will be able to do it when the real season start..not. Not to mention the hot tub incident with the under-age girl. I say the Cards should cut their losess now why they still have time. Leinart is a joke.

Don't be surprised if he wants to be traded soon.Carlisimo, when Fitzgerald was at Pitt he was very well-mannered.  Not the type of guy to complain about anything.  Money changes people and I haven't followed his sound bites in the NFC West, but I have tough time imagining that.
On a scale of 1-10 I give chance of Fitzgerald leaving 0; the chances he vocalizes a desire to leave Arizona a 1.5.

Lienart's problem is while at SC he was BMOC. When he got to the NFL he was just another rookie and he couldn't adjust. When you look at him play he looks plain scared. It happens to alot of college QB's. They get hit by a 10-12 year veteran DE trying to keep his job who doesn't give a s### who he is or who he's slept with and their blood turns to pi##.

The only person I feel bad for is Fiztgerald.  After having a hall of fame quarterback throw you the ball the last few sesons its going to be hard adapting to a couple of average joes.  Don't be surprised if he wants to be traded soon.

Matt Leinart is an okay QB but he's not that good either. he was only as good as he was in college cause of the talent around him. even before he came into the NFL i knew he wouldn't be anything more than a sub par QB. everybody just had a hard on over him cause he came from USC and it was a winning program.  But just like Jamarcus he cant cut it in the NFL.

CBS-this is the second time I have attempted to link a pic from another website and have this sh*t happen.  In preview the pic looks good,, in posting it turns to Sh*t.  Either let us post a pic, remove the option, or allow for a preview option then edit so that we have a chance of getting it right.  Isn't this basic info?
Here is the link to the Leinart in the hottub pic w/ 4 babes.  F'n stupid interface.

I don't feel bad for Leinart at all.  If anything, I'm jealous.

The guy who continues to get the raw deal and is rising above AGAIN is Derek Anderson.  He was a pro bowl quarterback in Cleveland and somehow they thought Brady Quinn would be better than a Pro-Bowler.  Dogs.  Way to go Derek Anderson, I never rooted for your Brownies but I always thought you were a class act.
