Rumors about V-Jax continue to fly

Rumors have been flying across the Internet all day about the Chargers trading estranged WR Vincent Jackson to Minnesota. It’s a done deal, at least one non-news Twitter feed proclaimed.

Well, according to various reports, the rumor, for now, is not true. That’s not to say the Vikings, Chargers and Jackson’s representatives aren’t in talks, because they very well might be. Especially with Wednesday’s 4 p.m. trade deadline looming (if he’s traded, he only has to sit out a four-game suspension; if not, it’s back to six games out with San Diego).

But the Vikings might not be the only team still actively interested in somebody who wants close to $10 million a season to play.

According to Brian Stull of 101-ESPN in St. Louis, the Rams are still interested in possibly acquiring Jackson’s services. Apparently, Washington also remains in the mix.

If Jackson is traded to Minnesota, he would be available for the Oct. 17 game vs. Minnesota. If it’s St. Louis instead, he would be ready for Oct. 10 at Detroit.

Wasn't this story dead as of 4pm today? Guess Jackson is out for 6 games and staying in SD whether he likes it or not.

"Teach Vincent Jackson a lesson. Let him sit out a season and see how much demand there is for him then."

Exactly what lesson would you be teaching him by sitting him out and paying him for a full season (except suspended weeks)?  That would give him a full year to get his body back 100% healthy.  It would give him a complete year to do whatever he desired.  I could picture him on a cruise ship with Mai Tais personally.  That would give him another year hypothetically on the back end of his career.  He would then be an unrestricted free agent.  Although he might not claim his $10 million prize, he would be able to pick and choose the team he wanted to play for.  Yeah that is some real tough love going on there. That right there is some nice logic.  Only you and AJ could come up with something along those lines.  Most other teams would have traded him regardless if they lost face in the public arena, to get compensation which they might very well not get down the line.

And I love how Minnesota fans are blaming A.J. Smith for their own shortcomings.  If Vincent Jackson is your only recourse then I feel incredibly sorry for you.  A.J. is probably doing you a favor.  One more DUI or any slipup and Mr. Jackson is done for the entire season.  Who will you place the blame on then?

Rumors about V-Jax continue to fly

The bottom line is Pride and Greed.  Jackson's pride is getting in the way.  Obviously, there is no market for him.  He must not be as good as he thinks he is.  He should've done what Miles Austin did with Dallas, accepted his 3.something million tender, reported to work, and then, while at work, negotiatiated a new contract.  That worked out fine for Austin.  And his agents' greed is obstructing the whole process and destroying what could have been a great and profitable future had they advised him to sign, report, and renegotiate.  He will end up "paying the price" for PRIDE and GREED and have to sit out the entire season.  And then in the end, he'll sign a lucrative free agent contract with a non-contender.  WAY TO GO AJ!  And welcome to the real world, Mr. Jackson.  This is how it works.  Actually in the real world, he would be S.O.L. for his insolent pride.
