Michael Vick was the feel good story of the NFL season. No if's, and's or but's about it -- er, actually, there might be a "but" since he was just escorted to the locker room in order to be examined by trainers and have X-rays taken on his ribs after suffering a brutal hit that you can see to your right.

The play occurred when Vick decided to do what makes him such an amazing player, which is scramble like crazy and fry everyone's brains with his athleticism.

The downside though, is that Vick is a lot more vulnerable to getting hit when he runs. And this time, it was particularly painful as he got rocked diving for the end zone, yet couldn't score.

Even if he had scored, it would have been for naught -- the Eagles were flagged for holding well before Vick even took off.

He's currently in the trainers' room getting X-rays taken on his ribs and the Redskins are currently in the midst of a stunning early beatdown of the Eagles, but even with that deficit, he's listed as "questionable" to return.

Kevin Kolb is under center and well, honestly, the only way that this year for Eagles' quarterbacks could get weirder is if Ron Jaworski and Randall Cunningham came parachuting onto the field with helmets on.

Update: Vick will not return to the game against the Redskins having been diagnosed with a "chest injury." Follow us on Twitter (@CBSSportsNFL) for more info on the injury.

Update (6:45): Adam Schefter reports on Twitter that there is "speculation" (that word is key, considering he used it twice) that there's a possibility that Vick suffered a hairline collarbone fracture. Given the way the Eagles have played since he left, that is not good news if correct.

Update (8:35): Andy Reid did what any normal NFL coach would do following the game, which is "act cryptically and reveal nothing"; Vick, who finished 5/7 for 49 yards with 17 yards rushing, also declined to speak to the media.

"He's got a sore chest is what I can tell you right now," coach Andy Reid said.

The good news is that his X-rays did indeed come back negative.

There's also a report (important word here) out there that Vick suffered three broken ribs.

"Now if Kolb performs well does he lose his job when Vick is ready or does he supplant Vick as the starter."

Well we all know what will happen, Reid will announce on a Sunday night that Vick will be the starter next game, only to say on Tuesday that he is sticking with Kolb.

So anyway.......Can we talk football for a minute.    Kolb looked like a career back up yesterday.  All those check downs were killing me.....I hope Vick can come back sooner rather than later.   I don't know if I can take a year of Kevin Kolb running for his life.

How does Jason Avant not make that catch.

Nate Allen pick # 3..........looks good to have some life at FS again.

I love Ernie Simms hustle.......

Owen Schmidt.......Could he be another Pro Bowl FB for us this year?......( If Kolb starts all year I say yes he could be. )

Trent Cole......Give this man his due credit......All he does is make plays.

How does Kolb miss Desean on the only long ball he threw all day ( not including the Hail Mary )?

Mccoy........I was wrong about him.  We need him on this team....

Weren't the Redskins the worst rated pass D up until yesterday.   How did we let that change with #10, #18, #87, and #25 all healthy?
Can it be that Kolb sucks that bad?  Or is it that the Oline sucks that bad?  How about a combination of both.

Who f****d up that delay of game penalty at the end of the `1st half?  Kolb,  Reid,  or the refs?  I don't know.

@mikeymike81, Look at it this way, a lot of the people who are still mad are probably that way because most people have moved on and they haven't. However, they happen to be offering a missed service, every minute they spend holding on to their MV hate online, a dog somewhere near them has a  booty hole thats getting a rest. God bless the human race, everything else is second place.

Some of you amaze me. The human race in an instant turns complete savage with no remorse. Hits are great to watch, amazing plays and spectacular drives by our favorite teams. But when the injury happens, some cheer. Yes cheer. You cheer for the injury that could lead to more problems for someone. Karma comes. Your excitement of a player being injured is ignorance. What about your friend getting that injury?
Anyway. Vick did hid time. Yes, it was criminal what he did, yes it was punishable and inhuman; but he did the time for it. Where were all of you when the NFL allowed Donte Stallwoth back into the NFL? He killed a MAN! A Person! I raise pit bulls and never to fight them. They are great with children and loyal to the end. They are intellegent. It is just dumb people who choose to fight them. But I'm sure Vick will never do it again, hence, rehabilitation. A drunk that no longer drinks is..say it with me "rehabilitated". So a man that fought dogs that no longer fights dogs is what...say it wiht me again "rehabilitated".
Leave the man alone. We all love watching him play. He improved his arm and is a better all around QB than Kolb.

I wonder if the eagles are now going to take Vick out back and shoot him like he would have done the dogs.
Priceless.
