As speculated earlier today following Dwayne Jarrett's arrest for DUI in Charlotte on Monday night, the Panthers have released the wide receiver, according to multiple reports.
Jarrett's DUI was his second in two years, and there was a chance that he'll face suspension from the NFL for violating the league's Personal Conduct Policy; clearly the Panthers weren't going to wait around and find out.
Jerry Richardson hasn't hesitated to remove troubled personnel before, and he certainly didn't hesitate this time.
Besides, it's not like Jarrett's performance with the Panthers warranted holding onto him any longer.
UPDATE (5:15 p.m. ET): Apparently desperate for underachievers, the Panthers have filled Jarrett’s roster spot with former Jet David Clowney. Clowney offers speed, but as anyone who watched Hard Knocks knows, he’s not exactly consistent. And he’s not a great special teams player.
