The Indianapolis Colts have placed wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez on injured reserve. Gonzalez injured his knee Monday night against the Texans (ESPN's John Clayton reported that it was a problem with the PCL). He missed practice all week and was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at Philadelphia.

This is the second consecutive year that the former first-round pick has been placed on IR with a knee injury. In those two seasons, Gonzalez has caught a total of five passes for 67 yards in three games. In his first two seasons in the league, the Ohio State product had 94 catches for 1,240 yards.

The Colts are not happy about the play in which Gonzalez was injured. It happened when Texans safety Bernard Pollard tackled him out of bounds (Pollard was not flagged nor fined, but ESPN replays showed that the hit, while clean, was clearly too late).

Not to be callous, but the Colts should have no trouble replacing Gonzalez. Slot receiver Austin Collie has been out with a thumb injury, but he practiced twice this week and could return Sunday. Undrafted youngster Blair White has also stepped up at times this season.

this is about late hits not too high or too low. the guy was 5yards out of bounds when he got hit. not to mention where did the official behind the line go when hart got his head ripped off by a facemask. you know troy is so good pal , he plays with his head up. there would be more picks and fumble recoverys if defense played with their head up.  Harrison(i cant change the way i've been taught to play the last 20 years) sorry pal but if you were taught to lower your head and watch the ground every coach you ever hadshould be FIRED!!!

What CAN defenders do to stop offfensive players now?  Why does everyone want a fine when someone gets hurt in a physical sport?  SHould soldiers start pressing lawsuits agains the enemy if they get injured in combat?

Here I'll put it easy for you since your a Steelers fan watch Troy P. Tackle then watch Harrison tackle Harrison sometimes borderlines legal hit with illegal hit and Troy doesn't he still hits hard and gets the job done. That is what the league is trying to do eliminate idiot guys who just want to injure other players because they feel like it like Harrison said he like to do. Some have been stupid fines like the guy getting fined for hitting Favre but it's Favre if it were any other QB there is no fine. And really! how you gonna compare Football to Killing/injuries in the battlefield??

This is the same Bernard Pollard that ended Tom Brady's season a couple seasons ago by hitting him low and tearing his knee ligament, right? Now, he hits this guy late out of bounds and ends his season? Sounds like Pollard plays a little dirty..... Maybe the League should do something (i.e fine him and/or suspend him) for being a repeat offender of being a dirty player?

Jaysus H. Chee-rist!!!

You can't tackle too high, you can't tackle too low, you can't hit em too late, you can't lead with your helmet (because all of us have our head mounted between our shoulder blades or on the back of our ass, right?), you can't draw blood.

GROW A FRIGGING SET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man I hate to hear that about Gonzalez being that I am a Pats fan, that just has to suck because he is a good WR and he
has been hurt alot off and on since he has been in the NFL, well anyway I hope he will be back next year so we can beat them at
full strength. Go Pats!

It was hard not to think something was up with that game and the officiating.   There was a very flagrant facemask that didn't get called and the very late hit out of bounds, resulting in injury, that didn't get called (or fined).  I would like to see the NFL come up with a credible explanation for the officiating in the Colts/Texans game.  It was very suspect.  How can you take a guy down by the facemask in the middle of the field in clear view of everyone and not get a flag?
