Posted by Josh Katzowitz If the amount of snaps one takes at a Friday practice indicates who will take the field on Sunday afternoons – and usually, it very much does – don’t be surprised if backup Kerry Collins starts in place of Titans starter Vince Young this Sunday vs. the Dolphins.
Young has been dealing with an ankle injury, and he didn’t practice Wednesday. He was limited Thursday, and though he took some snaps Friday, Collins had the majority of them with the first team. Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Young will be a gametime decision, but unless his ankle improves dramatically in pregame warmups, look for Collins to take over.
“We'll warm him up and see how he does,'' said Fisher, according to the Tennessean.
Young hurt himself two weeks ago, and though Tennessee had a bye last week – affording Young plenty of rehab and rest – he still can’t shake the injury.
Of course, the other big news is that Randy Moss will make his first appearance in a Titans uniform. Though you might think Moss would rather take throws from the actual starter, he and Collins have a history together. Both played for the Raiders in 2005, and after practice Friday, they spent extra time together working on their on-field chemistry.
Apparently, that was Moss’ idea.
