The University of Minnesota said that it would need an answer from the Vikings on Tuesday about whether their Week 15 Monday night game against the Bears will be played at TFC Bank Stadium. The timing is critical because the stadium, like most of Minnesota, is currently covered in snow. It would take multiple days to get the venue prepped for an NFL game.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Vikings released a statement indicating that the game will indeed be played at TCF Bank Stadium. Here’s the full statement:
The Minnesota Vikings are working diligently with the University of Minnesota and the NFL on preparing TCF Bank Stadium in the event that Mall of America Field at the Metrodome will not be ready for Monday night’s Vikings-Bears game. Their cooperation has been tremendous.
The Vikings are committed to ensuring a home game in Minnesota for our fans. We will continue to update fans and media as the process moves forward, but at this time no further information is available.
Looks like we could be getting a rare outdoor game in Minnesota – a December night outdoor game, no less.
