Report: Grossman could start over McNabb

Last Sunday, surprising news about the Redskins coaching staff and QBs Donovan McNabb and Rex Grossman emerged in a FOX report that said the coaches had prepared Grossman to replace McNabb against the Buccaneers if the latter struggled.

That didn’t happen in Washington’s one-point loss to Tampa Bay.

Yet it appears Washington’s staff might take it a step further this week. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, via Pro Football Talk, the Redskins are considering starting Grossman in place of McNabb this Sunday vs. the Cowboys.

In response, Kelli Johnson of CSN Washington tweeted that she had talked to a team source who didn’t believe that to be true.

Grossman and McNabb split first-team reps last week in practice, so look for that to happen when the Redskins return to practice Wednesday. Still, how hard up must the Redskins be if they feel they have to start Grossman – a QB who gives them virtually no chance to win? Also, what does that say about McNabb’s future with the Redskins?

Dude, Trent Dilfer has a Super Bowl ring.  Like I said McNabb can win a super bowl with a good team.  Its ignorant of history to say different.

McNabb "blows"?? WHAT?  Is he as good as he was a few years ago? No.  But McNabb could retire now and come back in 5 years and play better then Grossman does.  Grossman is awful.. disgusting actually.  The guy had one good year and even that year was up and down.  Any starting qb in football could have won it all with the D the Bears had back then.    How is benching McNabb for Grossman giving your team the best chance to win?  The only other reason you would do this is basically to audition quarterbacks for next year.  And if they were putting a rookie in there, I'd at least partially understand this move.  But we all know what Grossman is worth.. no audition necessary.

He was a leader then.  Remember he was voted to the probowl by his peers several times.  That has to count for something?

Stick a fork in DMc5.  He is DONE!  Period.  Six Pro Bowls.....whatever.  No MVP awards.  No Super Bowl ring.  Only reparations from the un-PC truth that Rush spewed about him on ESPN.  Kenny Anderson was better.  Esiason was better. Kosar was better. Sipe was better.  I could go on.....but, why bother.  I think the gap toothed one hurt him in that Dr. Pepper commercial.  Oh, and about Rexy.....they both are even in Super Bowl appearences, yes?
