Something good has come from the Sal Alosi tripping scandal: more fuel on the Patriots-Jets fire. Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff was asked on the Waddle & Silvy Show on ESPN 1000 in Chicago Wednesday about the Jets forming the wall of assistants along the sideline.

“A number of teams do it,” Westhoff said, per Pro Football Talk. “There is a pretty good team up north that lines their whole defense up when they do it, so it’s something that just kind of happened.”

Westhoff was asked to elaborate.

“Well, if you watch them, their defense when the opponents’ punt team is out there,” he said.  “They’re up there pretty close to the line so it looks like they are trying to do it.  Now are they doing anything illegal?  Are they tripping anybody, heck no.  I’m not saying that.  That’s not the point.  But, yeah, they’re lined up there.  Is it making a difference?  I don’t know.  I really don’t know, because to tell you the truth before this happened I never really looked at anybody’s sideline in all my years.”

It was discovered that Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi ordered for the wall to be formed. The team has suspended him indefinitely.

UPDATE 6:00 p.m. ET: For what it's worth, the NFL said Wednesday that the Jets' wall violated playing rules.

Not going to take the heat off what was caught on tape and probably done for a while and practiced on regular basis.  Why be a classless organization and point fingers at other teams.  Clean your own house before you say things about other houses.  For the head coach to say he knew nothing about, come on!!!

Westhoff is an idiot.  I think that point was made perfectly clear, by his own stupidity.  "They line up there whole defense when the do it...I don't know because I never really looked at anybody's sidelines in all my years."  Does this guy work for Goldman Sachs, too?  But here's the bigger issue:  Their head coach.  Rex Ryan has said he didn't know his team formed a wall, and he didn't see the play.  Well, here's the problem fat man.  If you watch the end of the video, where Nolan Carroll falls to the ground after he's tripped, guess who is standing RIGHT THERE...None other than Rex Ryan.  The fat man wearing the hat, black vest with long white sleeves and tan pants.  He was literally right there at the end of the Human Wall he claims he had no knowledge of..Watch the video.  The Jets Head Coach is standing right there when the entire play happens.  How can anyone take this guy or this entire organization seriously???  What frauds.  And it begins with the biggest fraud of all..Rex Ryan.

Wouldn't the fact that Westhoff was aware of the Patriots forming player walls imply that he is aware of the Jets doing the same?  I thought Westhoff, and Ryan for that matter had no idea what Alosi was doing.  Interesting.
