Weis is good as gone in KC

Charlie Weis has taken the offensive coordinator job at the University of Florida. Posted by Josh Katzowitz

Today will be the last regular-season game for Charlie Weis as the Chiefs offensive coordinator before he takes the same position with new coach Will Muschamp at the University of Florida. That’s the official word from the Kansas City Star.

Does the move make sense?

I’m not sure. It seems that moving from an OC position in the NFL to an OC position in college football is a lateral jump at best. It certainly couldn’t be seen as a promotion.

But if Weis wanted more autonomy as an assistant coach, he could be more inclined to get it from Muschamp (though that autonomy didn’t exactly work out well at Notre Dame, did it?).

Either way, this opens the door for former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels to take the offensive coordinator job at Kansas City so he could be reunited with Kansas City QB Matt Cassel.

Weis is good as gone in KC

there has GOT to be more to this story:

I think the real question is this:  how does Weis go anywhere fast in his condition?

The guy looked like a walking poster for Lipitor on the sidelines last year at ND and only looks more ravished this year.  He walks with a cane now; next year it'll be a scooter chair.  Guy looks like he has a secret love affair with Death from the Simpsons.  Would you really want to hire a guy that would have an MI every time he jogged to the locker room?  There's a reason he's in a booth at KC.

Weis is good as gone in KC

This story started surfacing during the last couple of days bowl games. Apparently it isn't just rumor; however, it didn't make sense when I first heard it & it doesn't make any more sense now. As one of the talking head noted, there has GOT to be more to this story. Why does the guru of NFL offenses go back to college, in any position; go back to a level where he's made such a hash of things & leave one where he's so stellar? Plus, what about KC? They're poised to make a run. What does this tell them?

If there's no underlying reason than it's nothing more than arrogance/hubris. He wants to redeem himself after the hash at N.D. That's not fair to either his current or future team. (But then what would you expect from an N.D. guy?)
