Report: Hue Jackson is assembling his crew

Hue Jackson is probably going to be the next Raiders coach. But, then again, it's the Raiders so there's no guarantee.

Which is what makes the report from Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chroncile that Jackson's making calls around the league about possible assistant coaches somewhat mystifying.

For instance, it could mean that he's already locked in as the coach and that he's trying to get the best possible assistants to surround him. Or, it could mean that Al Davis is demanding another formal interview with Jackson (even though he presumably canned Tom Cable just to get Jackson) and wants to know what kind of staff he'll assemble.

Either way, there's a possibility that Rob Ryan, one-time defensive coordinator in Oakland, could end up landing back in his old stomping grounds with Jackson -- Tafur reports he's one of the possible candidates for the position.

If, you know, Jackson ends up getting the job.

Report: Hue Jackson is assembling his crew

To reply to someone else's post, The Skins D. Synder and Al Davis are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.  They are both running their franchises into the ground, but at least Al knows (or knew) football.  Synder is just a billionaire geeky Napoleon who reminds me of Mr. Spacely (The Jetsons) who just want to be knows as a championship owner without going through the process of building a team.  Al Davis, although the owner of my favorite team, continues to try to trap lightning in a bottle.  I think every Raider fan deserves not only a good team but also a good supportive owner who is rarely seen and NEVER heard.

Sources say that Al Davis was surprised and underwhelmed by Hue Jackson when he ran a 6.8 in the 40.  Davis expects at least a 6.5 second time out of his head coach.  That same source also claims that despite the Raiders "success" this past season, it was Tom Cable's 48.3 in the 40 (his walk to the gatorade cooler after 27 yards didn't count towards his 40 yards, much to his surprise) led to his dismissal.
