Miami hires OC Brian Daboll; as for Childress?

The Miami Dolphins have filled their offensive coordinator vacancy with former Browns OC Brian Daboll. This according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Daboll had an underwhelming career in Cleveland, though he didn’t have much to work with.

Brad Childress had been in contention for the Dolphins job. Daboll’s hiring could end up leaving Childress out of work in 2011. The six other offensive coordinator jobs available are St. Louis, Kansas City, Cleveland, Oakland, Minnesota and Carolina. (We'll assume Jason Garrett essentially handles the offense in Dallas.)

If Josh McDaniels joins the Rams, where would Childress end up? It’s doubtful that any former head coach will want to be Todd Haley’s henchman in KC. Childress shares a West Coast offensive philosophy with Browns new head coach Pat Shurmur, but would he want to take a backseat to a first-time head coach whom was below him on the totem pole in Philadelphia? The Raiders are a nightmare to work for and the Vikings are obviously out of the question.

That leaves the Panthers as the most sensible landing spot. New head coach Ron Rivera is a defensive specialist, so Childress would have autonomy there. But there are no reports of the two sides interviewing.

As for Daboll in Miami, he’ll be under intense pressure to run the type of wide open offense that owner Stephen Ross is demanding. Can Chad Henne improve in 2011? Or will Daboll once again be forced to call plays with an iffy quarterback?

Really? Miami? Have the Fins owners broken into Ricky's stash? Oh lord, things are going down hill fast.  How on earth do you pick up an OC from one of the worst offenses in the league? This is atroshisly pathetic!

Maybe as Dolphin Fans we are looking at this the wrong way. With this OC we will more than likely get the first pick in the draft in which we will select Andrew Luck !

Miami fans, you think your offense was boring and predictable last year?  Juist wait.  As a Browns follower (not really a fan),  I'm absolutely shocked this guy got another job as an OC in the NFL.  Say what you will about the Browns lack of talent, he couldnt have ran an efficient offense with a Pro-Bowler at every offensive position.  Bad hire for a team that historically struggles to score points and cant win at home.

Cleveland's offense was horrible, but in all honesty, what did Brian Daboll have to work with other than Peyton Hillis, he had QB's who were probably worse then Henne, he had no WR's, heck, who's there TE, I can't even name the TE. So all teams had to do was stop Hillis and Cleveland was dead. But he did come up with an offense to beat the Miami Dolphins in Miami and I do believe his offense beat the Patriots and also went on the road to beat last years Super Bowl Champions, the New Orleans Saints. So, unlike the rest of you Dolphins fans, I'm willing to give the guy a break and see what he can do with some weapons, come on he's starting with BMarsh, Bess, Hartline, Fasano, the 2 young kids, Moore and Wallace looked pretty good at the end of the season. They need to get a good RB because I don't think there bringing back RB or Ricky. But, come on guys, lets give Daboll a chance before we crucify him, he can't be any worse than Henning was this year, so right there our offense just got better.
