Here are three possibilities who could take over Jeff Fisher's old Titans job:

  • Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell: Already Fewell has interviewed for three head coaching spots this year, so at this point, he’s the most-experienced interviewee of the offseason.
  • Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips: This relationship goes back a long way. It might be too soon to rehire the fired Phillips, but Adams employed Phillips’ dad, Bum Phillips, in the ‘70s with the Oilers, and those teams had plenty of success.
  • Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams: Apparently, he and Adams have a nice relationship, and he was in the Oilers/Titans organization from 1990-2000. But according to Rapid Reporter Larry Holder, the lack of a starting quarterback in the organization could keep Williams away from the position. Plus, he and Fisher happen to be really good friends, so Fisher certainly could discourage Williams from taking the job.
By the way, this is what Williams told Holder earlier this week at the Senior Bowl regarding potential head coaching openings: “It has to be the right job. Here’s what I say, when you have players and you have coaches that answer you in absolutes, they’re lying to you. So for me to say ‘I never,’ I couldn’t say that. But I can say that I have a great job right now that I love. Love! "

Also, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean has floated the name of offensive line coach Mike Munchak who could be in line to replace Fisher.

Who could replace Fisher?

I have been an oiler fan and now Titans fan since I was born in 1976.  I joke that I was conceived in the Astrodome ha.  It is time FOR ONCE that Bud Adams opens up his wallet and gets Tennessee an Elite QB and an Elite coach.  Do whatever it takes to get Tony Dungy out of retirement or Jon Gruden.  You can take a chance on a young coach and hope that we have enough talent to carry a .500 season.  Think about it.... This is a chance for a head coach to come in with a clean slate.  Make all the decisions and use the talent we have with CJ, Britt, Babon, Griffin, Finnegan and BUILD something special.  But Adams wont do that.  He is going to go for the left over table scraps per usual.  This is a very interesting yet freightening time as a Titans fan.  The steps taken in the next few weeks, months can mold where we go as a team for a very long time.

Who could replace Fisher?

Almost anybody.  The man only manages a better than .500 season 6 out of 14 times.  Give Eric Mangini the job, he'll actually probably get it to at least 7.

Who could replace Fisher?

Someone more Youthful can replace Fisher. Fisher and others like him (Martz, Shanahan, etc) age group are Traditional Coaches that don't know how to bring out nor deal with Todays now Traditional Players.  Parcels knew he could not coach his Old ways anymore. Some Older Coaches are Great at being a Defensive Cord. but those that experience is Offense Suck at being a Cord. this day and time. Cowher nor Gruden will succeed into Todays game as a HeadCoach as well. Hats Off to the Packers and Steelers for picking up more Modern day HeadCoaches. Cowher would be a Great Defense Cord. as well as Wade Phillips both of these guys know how to put together and play Defense. Its Sad that you have alot of Owners that don't know Football but know more about being an A-Wipe.
