Browns get rid of ineffective Shaun Rogers

Though this should come as a surprise to absolutely nobody, the Browns have cut NT Shaun Rogers, reports NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora.

Rogers is 32 years old, and he was largely* irrelevant this season.

*Literally and figuratively

Rogers He would have made a $5.5 million base salary next season with a $500,000 roster bonus, so for Cleveland, this was an absolute no-brainer. Especially considering he played 15 games (with only one start) last year and he made only two sacks and 17 tackles in what was clearly the worst season of his career.

Making matters worse is that Rogers was arrested in the offseason on a gun charge after he was caught with a weapon at the airport.

So, off-the-field issues + a terribly ineffective season x weight problems = see ya later to Rogers.

Browns get rid of ineffective Shaun Rogers

Sad to see this. As a Lions fan im not ashamed to say i have a special place in my heart for this dude. He was by far our best player in & during a dark era of our team history. For a man his size he made plays that defied logic & physics. The 65 yard INT return for a TD against Denver comes to mind.(below is a link to watch the TD on YouTube) This man brought alot of smiles to D-Town when we where down & out. Most Lions fans look at there team & there players as if they where family. The Lions have been like a disfunctional brother to me. They keep screwin up.They keep makin mistakes. But there mine & i will always luv them. I mean what other city(Name me one) will continue to fill a 65,000 seat areana for a team that has had the worst record in the NFL over the last 10 years. The city morns on a blacked out Sunday. Best of luck to you Shaun. I truley hope for good  things for you & your own the rest of your life.
